Indian Society of Prosthodontics-Restorative-Periodontics (ISPRP) was a long cherished dream of its founder members. It was this simple question "why not?" that led to the formation of this single platform of learning called the ISPRP on 4 April 2007. ISPRP has grown leaps and bounds in the last 3 years. We have successfully organized three very well attended and scientifically fruitful conferences, and essay competitions for the undergraduate and post graduate students every year.
We have always believed that a society is known not by the number of members it has, but by the quality of scientific program and research facilities it offers. Therefore, it is our earnest desire to provide the best knowledge platforms to our members and to foster in them the important and vital attributes of an excellent restorative dentist.
The most significant aim of the organization is to provide the framework for inclusive learning and the exchange of ideas among members of various disciplines of dentistry across the world. Central to the achievement of this goal is the development of an effective communication system. In this regard, I applaud our office bearers who have committed themselves to the development of an effective website ( http://www.isprp.org ) in the very first year of being.
Scientific journals are usually considered the most important primary sources of information. They help in rapid dissemination of scientific research work and clinical innovations, giving due credit to the researcher and/or clinician. The ISPRP board members as well as the editorial board have been working tirelessly toward publishing a scientific journal of the highest standards. They believe that the use of modern communication tools is critical to the development of effective and information-rich journal. Therefore, ISPRP partnered with Medknow publication to build this communication infrastructure and help the authors with online submission of articles and quick and effective reviewing by the editorial board.
It is our hope that all ISPRP members will do their part in ensuring that the journal and website will in fact be the means by which educators and clinicians across the world will be able to share creative and innovative ideas with other colleagues so that we can build an education system that will enable every individual to develop to the fullest extent of their potentials.
I am sure that the readers will find our expansive journal highly informative for acquiring higher knowledge and to achieve their stated goals.
